Tell me about how you started working with National Risk Management Services?
I was moving from PA to OH so I asked a couple of insurance brokers with whom I was doing business if they could recommend any reputable independent agencies in the Cleveland area. NRMS was mentioned so I mailed them a resume. They had just opened a position that was a fit for both of us!
What sort of roles have you had in the company?
Due to my strong background in customer service and property & casualty insurance coverages, I’ve held the same role since I started in October of 2004. Basically my job starts once an insurance policy is sold: cab cards, processing endorsements, monthly reports, surety bonds, reviewing shipper/broker contracts, and policy reviews.
How would you describe National Risk Management Services?
An independent insurance agency dedicated, with a lot of passion, to risk management and insurance placement for the trucking industry.
What is your favorite story centered on working with one of our clients?
We had a client whose safety director was well into his 80’s. He was such a joy to talk to, always in a good mood. He told me stories of him and his wife competitively roller-skating in their early years together, and of him riding a motorcycle for the first time during his service in WWII.
What do you like most about the trucking industry?
The trucking industry is such an important part of the economy of the United States. About 70% of freight is transported by truck. I like that some trucking companies are truly dedicated to safety and to their employees. The drivers they hire are the knights of the road.
What do you do when you are not working?
I enjoy hiking and golf, and I spend a lot of time with my horse (for the horse people who read this, she’s a Thoroughbred and we practice the hunter/jumper discipline, non-competitively).
